About staying in Marloth Park

Marloth Park is a holiday town and wildlife area in Mpumalanga, on the south bank of the Crocodile River between Malelane and Komatipoort. The river is also the southern boundary of the Kruger National Park. Most of its roughly 3,000 hectares is left as bush, and giraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest and warthog move freely between the houses. Lion, buffalo and rhino are kept in the fenced Lionspruit section.

Houses along the river road look across into Kruger, so that is where people go for river views. Plots further inland are quieter and closer to Lionspruit, which you can drive in your own car.

The dry winter months, roughly May to September, are best for game viewing. Marloth Park is in a malaria area. SANParks gives the season as October to April, with March and April the highest risk. December and Easter are the busiest periods.

The nearest airport is Kruger Mpumalanga International near Mbombela, roughly 120 km by road. From Johannesburg it is about 460 km, around five hours, on the N4.

Nearby: - Crocodile Bridge Gate, Kruger, about 14 km. - Malelane Gate, Kruger, about 35 km. - Komatipoort, about 25 km, for larger shops. - The Lebombo border post into Mozambique, just past Komatipoort.

Tip: lions from Kruger sometimes get into Marloth Park. Walk and cycle only in daylight, and drive slowly, because the animals are not fenced off from the roads.
